Medical Marijuana Facility Opens In Meriden
The city's first medical marijuana dispensary opened recently.
MERIDEN, CT — The city's first medical marijuana dispensary has opened: Willow Brook Wellness at 1371 E. Main St. The facility's website describes its mission as being "focused on serving patients with passion respect and trust."
The dispensary opened in April and was among nine new dispensaries approved by the state Department of Consumer Protection, The Meriden Record-Journal reported.
According to Willow Brook's website: "To qualify, a patient must be a Connecticut resident, being treated for a debilitating medical condition by a Connecticut-licensed physician."

The news comes as a medical marijuana research facility is also seeking to relocate from Portland to Meriden.
Connecticut Pharmaceutical Solutions has filed plans with the city to part of a 170,000 square-foot building for research on and production of medical marijuana.

The company currently operates a 20,000 square-foot medical marijuana production facility in Portland but says growing demand has caused it to outgrow its current space.
