Men Tried To Steal Car Out Of Dealership In Meriden: Police

Police said the men were found to be driving a vehicle that was stolen out of Hartford.

MERIDEN, CT — Two men accused of trying to steal a vehicle from a car dealership in Meriden were arrested Sunday after police said they were found to be driving a vehicle that was stolen out of Hartford.

Police responded to Meriden Hyundai on the report of an attempted theft of a motor vehicle from the lot.

The overnight security guard gave officers a detailed description of two men who were seen trying to break into and steal a car, according to police.

The two men were approached by the guard and fled in a black vehicle after being confronted, police said.

Police said the men identified themselves as 20-year-old Xavier Rolon and Malyk Rodriguez, 20, both of Hartford. Additional officers found an unoccupied black vehicle on Gypsy Lane that appeared to be “mechanically disabled,” according to police.

“Rolon and Rodriguez were identified as the men in the Meriden Hyundai lot and officers also determined that the vehicle on Gypsy Lane was stolen out of Hartford and positively identified as the vehicle both Rolon and Rodriguez had previously fled in from Meriden Hyundai,” police wrote in a news release.

Both men were taken to Meriden Police Headquarters and arrested on various charges and held in lieu of $25,000 bonds, according to police.
