Meriden 2021 Election Voter Guide: Meet The Candidates

MERIDEN, CT — On Nov. 2, Meriden residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions.Contested races include: position of mayor, councilor, councilor-at-large, and Board of Education.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

You can request an absentee ballot here or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

In Meriden, the choices for mayor are: Kevin Scarpati, a Democrat, and Elain Cariati, a Republican/We The People Party, and Ernestine Holloway, Independent Party. You will vote for one candidate. Scarpati has served as mayor since 2015.

For the position of Councilor, the candidates are: Yvette Cortez, a Democrat, and Nolberto Gonzalez, a Republican/We The People Party, and Richard Cordero, Independent/Libertarian Party. You will vote for one candidate.

For the positions of councilor-at-large the candidates are: Bruce A. Fontanella, Chad Cardillo, both Democrats, and Dan Zaborowski, Ray Ouellet, both Republicans/We The People Party, and Ernestine Holloway, Pedro Valentin, both Independent Party. You will vote for up to two candidates.

For Board of Education the candidates are: Steven O'Donnell, Charles Johnson, Enileika Lopez-Riddle, Nickimmy Hayes, Sheri Amechi, all Democrats, and Allan Pronovost, Siobhan Maloney Bazinet, Kim Carbone Pandidani, all Republicans/We The People Party. You will vote for up to five candidates.
