Meriden Approves Development Deal for Former Record-Journal Building
The city purchased the property for just under $500,000 in 2014.

MERIDEN, CT - The former home for Meriden's newspaper of record is slated to become a residential development.
The City Council Monday approved a plan by New Jersey-based Michaels Organization to develop 11 Crown St., which once housed the Meriden Record-Journal, into an 81-unit housing complex.
Reporter Molly Callahan of the Record-Journal writes that 57 of the development's units would be considered affordable, while the rest would be more expensive. The complex also would hold 15,000 of commercial space.
