Police Find Body of Missing Meriden Attorney, 50: Update
He has been missing since Sunday, Aug. 7.

MERIDEN, CT — The body of Meriden attorney John Ivers, 50, was found Wednesday afternoon near Black Pond in Middlefield, according to police.
"This matter is being investigated by the CT State Police; however, at this time the cause of death appears to be from a self-inflicted gunshot," wrote Meriden Police Sgt. Darrin McKay in a statement.
A Silver Alert had been issued Tuesday night for John Ivers, and on Wednesday his vehicle was located at Black Pond.

"An extensive search was launched and members of the Meriden Police Department along with the CT State Police, CT DEEP and the Middlefield Fire Department took part in the search."
McKay said no further comments would be made at this time. "This is a very sensitive and personal matter for his family and aside from extending our deepest condolences to his family, we will not be commenting further."

He had last been seen wearing a lime green polo shirt and light khaki shorts, according to police, and had been missing since Sunday, Aug. 7.
