Meriden Banquet, Catering Facility Announces Closure After 23 Years

The business' owners said they will only be open for the next few weeks to sell their commercial equipment.

MERIDEN, CT — The owners of Il Monticello Banquet Facility and Catering announced over the weekend plans to close the facility after 23 years in business.

In a Facebook post, the owners said they planned to close their doors Monday at 10 a.m. and will only be open to sell their commercial equipment.

"We are selling everything," the post reads. "If anyone needs any commercial equipment, please come in."

Anyone interested in purchasing equipment from the banquet facility is invited to walk through both floors of the building and purchase anything not being used.

"We are offering it to the public before we go to auction. Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours," the post reads.

A subsequent Facebook post indicated the owners planned to be present at the business "daily during the week only" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until mid-July "or once everything is gone."

Located at 577 South Broad Street, Il Monticello offers planning and catering services for weddings, receptions, parties and other special events, with elements including "delicious homemade food, an inviting atmosphere and the best service around," according to their website.
