Meriden City Council Appoints New Corp Counsel

The vote was contentious.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride, but Meriden now has a new corporation counsel.

The City Council voted last night in a contentious vote to appoint Michael Markowicz to the position, according to the Record-Journal.

The state Supreme Court upheld a lower court decision that former Corp Counsel Michael Quinn was improperly holding his position. The ruling forced Quinn to vacate the position.

Markowicz is a member of the Murtha Cullina law firm where he advised municipalities and educational institutions on a variety of issues, according to his online biography.
