Meriden Commons Celebrates Grand Opening

The first phase of the housing development will open as the second phase of the project begins.

MERIDEN, CT - The grand opening of a $55-million mixed-income housing community will be July 24, which coincides with the groundbreaking of the second phase of project. As a whole, Meriden Commons will be a transit-oriented development of 151 mixed-income apartments with more than 6,500 square feet of commercial space.

Meriden Commons I includes 75 mixed-income one-to-three-bedroom apartments, along with 5,445 square feet of commercial space. The second phase, Meriden Commons II, will include 76 one-to-four-bedroom units.

The event will be Tuesday, July 24, at 1 p.m. on the Meriden Green Ampitheater across from the Commons at 161 State St. State, local and business officials will speak at the event.

The project is part of an effort to revitalize downtown and make it accessible via different modes of transit. This is a component of a broader development plan, Meriden 2020.
