Meriden Councilor Arrested On Assault Charges: Report
A Meriden city councilor was arrested on accusations that he assaulted a family member.
MERIDEN, CT — A city councilor was arrested following an alleged assault on a family member Saturday night, The Record-Journal reported. Miguel Castro, 50, a Democrat representing the first district, was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree strangulation.
Castro is accused of pushing a family member against kitchen cabinets and putting his hands on the victim's throat. Castro denied the charges and said he "did not cause harm to anyone," according to The Record-Journal.
He was released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court Wednesday.
