Meriden Election 2016: 13th State Senate Race Is Called, Incumbents Prevail
Before you head into the voting booth on Election Day here's information on all the candidates, polling places and more.

Update: Incumbent Democrats Catherine Abercrombie and Hilda Santiago, in the 83rd and 84th House Districts, respectfully, both won re-election, writes the Meriden Record-Journal.
Update: Len Suzio is claiming victory to re-capture the 13th State Senate District seat he used to hold, reports Connecticut political guru Ken Dixon.
Suzio, a Republican, defeated Democratic incumbent Dante Bartolomeo. The two have battled for this seat three times.

Original story: Meriden residents will head to the polls on Nov. 8 for the 2016 Presidential election.
Polling places in the community, and throughout the state, will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and so far turnout reportedly has been strong in Connecticut.

On the ballot, registered voters in Meriden will be able to select candidates for president and vice president, United States senator, representatives to U.S. Congress, state senator, state representative, and registrar of voters.

For the 13th Senatorial District, Meriden voters will choose between Democratic incumbent Dante Bartolomeo and Republican challenger Len Suzio, who has held the post before. This will mark the third time the pair have faced off against each other, and both other races were close.
For the 82nd State House District, Democratic incumbent Emil "Buddy" Altobello is running opposed.

The 83rd State House District race is between incumbent Democrat Catherine Abercrombie, who is running against Republican candidate Joseph Vollano. Abercrombie is chair of the Human Services Committee, and a member of the Appropriations and Insurance & Real Estate committees. Vollano is a former candidate for the United States House of Representatives and local office.
In the 84th State House District, incumbent Democrat Hilda E. Santiago is running against Green Party candidate Matthew S. Went.
Republican Catherine Sarault and Democrat Maureen E. Flynn are the candidates for Meriden Registrar of Voters.
The candidates for president and vice president are Republicans Donald Trump and Mike Pence, Democrats Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, Libertarians Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, and Green Party Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka.
For United States Senate, the candidates are incumbent Richard Blumenthal, Democrat, Dan Carter, Republican, Richard Lion, Libertarian, and Jeffrey Russell, Green Party.
For United States Congress, the choice for the Fifth District is between incumbent Elizabeth Etsy, a Democrat, and Clay Cope, a Republican.
