MERIDEN, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Meriden with plenty of races on the ballot.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 7 and cast their ballots for Mayor, City Council, Board of Education and more.

What is your occupation?

City Clerk, 8 years elected, 16 years in the Clerk's office. Total 34 years employed with the city of Meriden.

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

I have 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grand child. I have sole custody of my youngest grandchild Killian who is 3.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Yes, for the 8 years.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I'm the current City Clerk and the only qualified candidate to effectively manage the office.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Accessibility. I intend to have everything available online. One would only need to come into the office if a Oath is required.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Prepared, 14 budgets, secured 10 state library grants for preservation. Implemented online ordering of all vital records and the use of credit cards.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Irene Masse, said remember the priority is the customer standing in front of you.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I don't believe the City Clerk's position should be elected, times have changed, the clerk should be at the least certified through the State of Connecticut.
