Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

No

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I am running because I have lived in Meriden all my life and love my City. I am raising my family here and feel that because of that I have the motivation and desire to make Meriden better. I also feel that because I am Puerto Rican and my husband is Caucasian I have a unique understanding of what this City is about and needs from all sides. I worked tirelessly on the Senior Center Committee and would commit myself to doing the same to find solutions to the other issues that face Meriden such as blight, lack of development and support for our Public Safety Officers.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Personal Safety and high crime.

Work to make sure our Public Safety Personnel have the funding and resources to take back our City. We need a stronger Police presence in our Area and this can only be accomplished with funding and working with the Police Department.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My opponents is the Current sitting Councilor for the Area. That Area is predominantly Hispanic as am I and this will lead to my bringing more beneficial changes than my opponent. During her past terms very little has been done to create a working relationship with our Police or Citizens.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way do you believe the current officeholder has failed the community?

She has failed to gain the respect or confidence of the people in the City. She has undermined several Departments and halted forward movement of Committees and Boards that are important to our progress. She fails to set an example for the taxpayers in the City.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Blight, high taxes, infrastructure and increasing bilingual communications in the City to better serve the Community.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have accomplished the following, I worked on the Senior Center Committee to finally make it a reality after many years of talking. I am a Team Leader for Relay for LIfe team who last year, not only exceeded our goal, but doubled it. I was recently voted to Chair the Commission on Aging and Disabilities Board, that I currently serve on. I also do Volunteer work with the Community that requires organizational and timing skills. And I work a full time job while raising 2 children.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

If you are true to yourself, you will serve others with truth and respect.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have lived in Meriden my entire life. I promise to work hard to be available to people whenever they need me. To work with my neighbors to solve problems and grow back our City. I also will do whatever is necessary to create a working relationship with all the members of the Council to help make good choices for the people of the entire City.
