Meriden To End Mask Mandate For City Buildings, Schools

The mask mandate will be lifted at the end of the month.

MERIDEN, CT — The city will lift a mandate requiring masks in public areas of city buildings effective March 1, according to The Meriden Record-Journal. The announcement follows a decision by local school officials, who will make mask wearing optional Feb. 28 when a statewide executive order requiring masks in schools expires.

City officials had reinstated the mask mandate in December due to higher COVID-19 case numbers. However, declines in case numbers in February led to the recent decision to end the mask mandate, The Meriden Record-Journal reported.
