MERIDEN, CT — Apple Rehab, the Avon-based owners of Westfield Care & Rehab in Meriden, are planning to shut down a 120-bed facility, according to FOX 61. The state Department of Social Services has 30 days to approve or deny Apple's request to close.

Patients and their families are now looking for care alternatives. Apple operated at a loss of nearly $1 million last year, and the facility is less than half full with only 57 beds occupied.
