Meriden Man Charged In Shooting In Hamden: Police

Police have made a second arrest in connection with a shooting that injured a man earlier this year in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A Meriden man has been charged in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of the Dixwell Social Lounge earlier this year, according to police.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on Feb. 17 in the parking of the Dixwell Social Lounge at 940 Dixwell Avenue. A 34-year-old Hamden man suffered a gunshot wound to his foot during the shooting, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Detective Jomo Crawford, along with detectives from the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, HPD Crime Scene Unit and New Haven Shooting Task Force conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting, according to Dolan.

Donald Woodson, 39, of Meriden, was later identified as one of two shooters in the parking lot that night, Dolan said.

Woodson was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant in connection with the shooting. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Oct. 26.

Montrell Brewer, 30, of New Haven, was previously arrested in connection with the shooting. He was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was arrested July 26 and is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond with a court date of Oct. 19, according to state judicial records.

Dolan said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
