Meriden Man Sentenced For Dealing Fentanyl: Feds
Javier Martinez was sentenced to three years in prison for dealing fentanyl.
MERIDEN, CT — A city man has been sentenced to three years in prison for trafficking fentanyl, according to Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Javier Martinez, 41, will also serve four years of supervised release.
According to prosecutors, police coordinated a controlled purchase of 100 grams of fentanyl from Martinez in February 2020.
Investigators stopped Martinez’s vehicle after he arrived at an agreed upon location in West Haven on Feb. 13, 2020. Police searched his car and found about 100 grams of fentanyl.

Police also found 180 grams of fentanyl, more than 300 fentanyl pills, and items used to process and package drugs for street sale in a search of Martinez's house.
Martinez pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl in April.

He has been released on $100,000 bond and is required to report to prison Oct. 18.
