Meriden May Change Zoning Regs To Attract More Restaurants

City officials are considering scrapping a regulation that prevents restaurants from opening within 1500 feet of each other.

MERIDEN, CT - City Planner Renata Bertotti is considering changing zoning regulations that prevents restaurants that serve liquor from opening within 1500 feet of each other, according to the Record-Journal. Bertotti said this regulation restricts the town's opportunity to develop.

City officials said the goal of new regulations would be to allow "clusters" of restaurants. Westfield Mall could benefit from the change, as the shopping center currently only has one restaurant that serves liquor.
