Meriden Municipal Election 2017 Results: Winner Declared
City residents voted on several local positions in Tuesday's municipal election.

MERIDEN, CT — UPDATE: Incumbent Mayor Kevin Scarpati has won re-election to a second term, defeating Republican challenger Irene Massé and Petitioning Candidate Ernestine Holloway in Tuesday's municipal election, the Meriden Record-Journal reports. MERIDEN, CT — On Nov. 7, Meriden residents will hit the polls and vote for various local positions. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here is a breakdown of what you need to know.

Residents will vote on candidates for Mayor, Council, Council At-Large, Board of Education and Judge of Probate. The following are the candidates in the city-wide races. To view all the candidates and a sample ballot in your district, click here.

Am I Registered?
If you do not know if you are registered to vote, you can click here. Applications must be postmarked or received by a voter registration agency by the 7th day before an election, which is Oct. 31. However, if you miss the deadline for registering for an election, Connecticut now offers same-day voter registration. You can register and vote in person on Election Day at your town's Election Day Registration location. You can contact your local registrars of voters for information.

Absentee Ballots
- You can vote by absentee due to the following reasons:
- Illness or physical disability
- Absence from town during all election hours
- Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day
- Serving as an election official at a polling place other than your own
- Active service in the Armed Forces
