Meriden Nursing Home Fined, Nurse Aide Fired For Resident's Fall

The state Department of Public Health fined five nursing homes for errors that endangered or injured residents, the CT Health I-Team reports

MERIDEN, CT — Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden was fined $6,120 by the state Department of Public Health and a nurse aide was fired after a resident fell while being transferred, according to the Connecticut Health I-Team.

Cara Rosner of the Connecticut Health I-Team reports the resident suffered several fractures after falling when the nurse aide tried to move the resident from a wheelchair to a toilet without help. The resident’s care plan called for two-staff assistance with all transfers and the nurse aide was fired for twice violating the plan, according to Rosner.
