Meriden Nursing Home Fined for Obese Resident's Fall

The resident had a history of falling and an aide reportedly admitted she didn't get another aide to help her.

Meriden’s Silver Springs Care Center was one of five nursing homes recently fined by the state Department of Public Health.

Kate Farrish of the Connecticut Health I-Team reports Silver Springs was fined $1,160 on Sept. 23 for an August incident in which an obese resident, with a history of falling, fell out of bed and sustained a large chest bruise.

The aide who was helping the resident was suspended for five days after admitting that she didn’t have a second aide help her, according to Farrish.
