Meriden Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Crash
A pedestrian was hit by a car Tuesday night and seriously injured.
MERIDEN, CT — A victim is in serious condition after a car vs. pedestrian crash in Meriden Tuesday night. According to police, emergency responders were dispatched at 7:26 p.m. at 450 E. Main St. on a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle.
Maria Betancourt-Gamboa, 57, was lying on the side of the street in the west side lane when emergency responders arrived on the scene. She had been walking west bound when an SUV struck her. She was thrown off the vehicle and her head hit the curb.
Betancourt-Gamboa was transported to Hartford Hospital with head and neck injuries and is listed in serious condition.

The driver of the SUV, Emad Zaitoun of Meriden, remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. There were no signs of impairment, police said.
