Meriden Police Captain Suspended with Pay over Probe into Alleged Misuse of Funds: Reports

The captain, a 19-year veteran of the force, was placed on administrative leave late last week.

MERIDEN, CT — Meriden Police Capt. Patrick Gaynor Jr., a 19-year veteran of the force, has been placed on indefinite administrative leave while the department continues an investigation into whether he misused city funds, according to reports.

Fox61 News writes that Gaynor was placed on leave effective Sept. 2, and was told to turn over his weapon, badge and department-issued vehicle. Citing a source, the television station reports that Gaynor may have misused city funds for an unauthorized training course.

Gaynor was, until recently, interim director of the department's emergency dispatch operation, which the Meriden Record-Journal writes has been under scrutiny.
