Meriden To Recoup $3.4 Million From Eversource
The city is anticipated to recoup $3.4 million in uncollected taxes that occurred due to a clerical error.

MERIDEN, CT - The city's largest taxpayer, Eversource Energy, will pay $3.4 million in unpaid taxes to the city, the Meriden Record-Journal reported. A clerical error led to the company underpaying its taxes in 2016 and 2017, which the Finance Department discovered in an audit last month.

Eversource officials dropped of $2.5 million in checks at City Hall recently and will deliver the $900,000 balance next month. The city is anticipated to retain the funds as a surplus.
