MERIDEN, CT — The City of Meriden is hiring a temporary, part-time public health nurse to work in a school health office. The position, Public Health Nurse I, is part-time (19.75 hours per week, 10 months) and runs through the end of the 2017/18 school year. Read more from the job posting below:

This position consists of varied public health nursing duties under the supervision of the Public Health Nurse Administrator. The Public Health Nurse I serves as a resource person to classroom teachers and others pertaining to health instruction; plans and participates in manners pertaining to health appraisals; provides first aid care in emergencies; gives prescribed treatments, administers health screenings, maintains accurate records, interprets and complies with laws, regulations, and ordinances regarding public health work, and prepares narrative and statistical reports as needed.

The candidate must have graduated from a recognized nursing school and/or a recognized college or university with a degree in nursing, following a course of study including approved programs in public health nursing. The candidate must have a Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.

Hours will be Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon and Friday 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
