Meriden Staring Down A Tax Increase In New Budget: Report
The city's operating budget for next year is slated to be finalized next month.

MERIDEN, CT — Local residents are looking at the possibility of an increase to Meriden's mill rate to 40.21 mills, as the city grapples with an increase to next year's operating budget, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.
Residents in the city's inner district currently pay 39.7 mills, and those in the outer district pay 37.47 mills. One mill represents $1 dollar for every $1,000 in assessed property value.
The proposed budget for the next fiscal year stands at $194.67 million, which is about 2.1 percent above the city's current allocation. The city's operating budget for next year is slated to be finalized next month.
