Meriden Summer Library Challenge Begins Monday, June 15

Participants will track their daily reading and accomplish tasks such as picking up litter or creating art to earn prizes.

The Meriden Public Library is renaming this year’s Summer Reading to the ‘Summer Library Challenge’. The Public Library is inviting individuals and families of all ages to participate each week in this summer challenge. The ‘Summer Library Challenge’ will begin on Monday, June 15, and will run until Saturday, August 15.

Participants of the ‘Summer Library Challenge’ can join virtually on the Meriden Public Library website (www.meridenlibrary.org/summer) or receive a login credential at one of the curbside pickups. Participants of the challenge will have the opportunity to track their daily reading, as well as accomplish special and weekly tasks in order to earn prizes such as a Meriden Library canvas bag, free books, and other fun rewards for all ages. Weekly challenges include beautifying the community by picking up litter, helping a friend or neighbor, or visiting the Library’s website. The challenges will change each week but will include tasks such as cooking together, attending virtual library programs, trying something new, and creating art.

In addition, the Meriden Public Library is offering curbside pickup as well as library book drop offs. Residents of Meriden can return all currently checked out items, without worrying about fines or late fees. Pickup can be scheduled, Monday – Wednesday, 9 a.m.- 7:30 p.m. or Thursday – Friday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. All pickups require 24-hour notice. For all curbside services, patrons are asked to call 203-238-2345 at arrival and the Library staff will bring all items out to each patron.
