Meriden Train Station Construction Moves Forward

The work is part of the Hartford Line from New Haven to Springfield, MA.

MERIDEN, CT - Construction at the Meriden train station on State Street continues to move forward, one of three station renovation projects along the Hartford Line.

The Record-Journal reports that the work is part of a $650 million, 62-mile upgrade of the Hartford Line from New Haven to Springfield, MA, that is designed to lure more commuters to take the train.

Stations in Berlin and Wallingford also are under construction, and work can now be seen above ground on the structures themselves.

“Work that gets the project out of the ground, including sheeting installation, footings, stem walls, and stair tower steel has been completed,” Connecticut Department of Transportation project manager Bruce Olmstead told the Record-Journal. “Much of the work is on the west side of the tracks but some work is on the east side.”
