Meriden Voters Overwhelmingly Nix Budget Plan

Residents turned down the city's budget in a referendum Wednesday.

MERIDEN, CT - Voters overwhelmingly rejected the city's $198 million budget in a referendum Wednesday, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. The budget would have raised taxes by 4.66 percent.

Residents turned down that plan with 96 percent voting against the proposal. The measure went to referendum due to a petition opposing the budget that received 2,779 signatures.
