“The recipients of the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation provide a wide variety of services to strengthen and improve their parishes and extended communities. They perform extraordinary tasks for the betterment of others, and are wonderful examples for all of us who practice the Catholic faith,” said Archbishop Henry J. Mansell in a statement. “The St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation is not an honorary gift. It is richly earned by those who receive it.”
