New Exit Ramp Opening On Route 15 In Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — A new exit ramp is opening on Wednesday, Sept. 2 as part of the I-91, I-691, Route 15 Interchange improvement project in Meriden.

The new exit ramp, Exit 64A, will help “reduce weaving and congestion,” according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

“This exit will take you from Route 15 northbound to I-91 northbound, just south of the interchange,” officials wrote in a post on the DOT’s Facebook page. “But don't worry if you miss the exit! The existing ramp will still be in place, so you have another option to get to I-91 northbound.”

Officials called the opening of the new exit ramp “an important milestone” for the project, but said it may take a while for the GPS guidance systems to “reflect the new alignment, so please follow the posted signage along the highway.”

“Lanes will be marked with route-identifying shields to help guide motorists into the proper lanes,” according to a post on the project’s website. “The existing ramp from Route 15 NB to I-91 NB (Exit 65A) will remain open.

“Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.”
