Obituary: Charles H. ‘Chip’ Howard, 76, of Meriden

A U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart Medal of Honor, he retired from Atlantic Star Trailers after a long career

MERIDEN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Charles H. “Chip” Howard, 76, of Meriden, died Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Donna L. (Boudreau) Howard of 49 years.

Chip was born in Houlton, ME, September 20, 1946, a son of the late Charles and Geneva (Miller) Howard and was a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart Medal of Honor. He retired from Atlantic Star Trailers after a long career.

Chip was an excellent pool player and was a member of the Senior League at Shooters in Southington. He loved Corvettes and owned many over the years and also loved dogs, especially Boxers.

In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his son, Blake Howard and his wife Victoria of Higganum; his daughter, Lindy Griffin and her husband Ryan of Meriden; his granddaughters, Violet and Ivy Howard; his sister, Linda Mikosz and her husband David of Plantsville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Diane Spinelli.

A graveside memorial with military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Garden of Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Funeral services are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
