Obituary: Daniel F. Hinde, 65; Formerly Of Meriden

Dan was a Sergeant in the Air Force at McGuire AFB, N.J. for four years. He also worked for the USPS as a mail handler for many years.

CHESHIRE, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Daniel F. Hinde, 65, of Cheshire, loving husband of Susan Neal, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2022 after a long battle with cancer with his wife by his side.

Daniel was born in Meriden on August 29, 1957, son of Maggie Jane (Powals) Hinde of Wallingford and the late Francis Hinde.

Dan grew up in Meriden and was a Sergeant in the Air Force at McGuire AFB, NJ. for 4 years. Dan also worked for the USPS as a mail handler for many years. We have been truly blessed with many good memories of his love for his family, Sue’s family, his music friends and of the Patriots & Red Sox games. We honor him for his brave fight against cancer. He was a wonderful grandfather to both his grandson & his wife’s grandchildren.

He fell in love and married an angel who carried him through the good and bad times. He enjoyed retirement & defied the odds. Dan’s wish was for all to celebrate our good times together & the memories we have of him.

In addition to his wife, Sue, and his mother, Maggie Jane, he is survived by his son, Nicholas (Kristina) Hinde; sister, Pat (Nelson) Thomas; brother, Thomas (Lesley) Hinde; and Grandson, Jaxson Hinde; as well as his nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Hinde.

Dan’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. A short funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan’s memory to Yale Smilow Cancer Hospital.
