Dorothy loved family and music. She was a music teacher at Maloney High School in Meriden.

Dorothy Anne (La Ninfa) Craven, 86, of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away June 10, 2018. She was born on November 28, 1931 to parents Rocco La Ninfa and Rose (Emma) La Ninfa of Providence, Rhode Island.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Rosa (La Ninfa) D’Acri of Salinas, California. She leaves her children Philip Craven of North East, Maryland, Edward Craven and his wife Eileen of Cohasset, Massachusetts, and Richard Craven and his wife Patricia of Stratford, Connecticut. She is predeceased by her daughters Mary Anne Craven and Judith (Craven) Sopko. Dorothy leaves behind her six grandchildren Philip Craven, Jr., Rose (Sopko) Yaksic, Nicole (Craven) Matthews, Sean Craven, Travers Craven, and Teddy Craven.

Dorothy loved family and music. She graduated from Rhode Island College with a degree in music education. She went on to teach music at Maloney High School, Meriden, Connecticut, and the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, Milford, Connecticut. She followed her passion for vocal coaching and conducting founding the Craven Singers choral group, and working with the Stamford Opera. She touched many lives, and spread her enthusiasm for the musical arts, and the pursuit of performance excellence.
A funeral will be held June 21st at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church 1525 Cranston St. Cranston, Rhode Island 02920. Burial will follow immediately at St. Ann Cemetery 73 Church St., Cranston Rhode Island 02920.
