Obituary: Evelyn A. Vecchitto, 80, Of Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — (From Meriden Memorial Funeral Home): Evelyn A. Vecchitto, 80, of Meriden, loving wife for 63 years of Vincent G. Vecchitto, peacefully entered eternal rest, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Evelyn was born in Meriden, September 1, 1943, the daughter of the late Joseph Majewicz and Arline (Miller) Majewicz.

She was a graduate of St. Raphael’s Nursing School and had been employed as a Licensed Practicing Nurse. She also studied Oceanology at Middlesex Community College.

Evelyn received a highly regarded award, “Psychic of the Year” from her studies at Alpha Logics in Bristol. Evelyn was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary VFW since 1959. She loved to crochet, cross stitch and bead work.

Evelyn enjoyed painting and had a talent for writing. Amongst the many hobbies she enjoyed traveling to Mohawk Trail, vacationing at Cape Cod, and Atlantic City where she loved to play Black Jack.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Louis J. Vecchitto and wife Emma, Paul Vecchitto; and her daughter Arline Bruenn (Michael Kuehn); her daughter-in-law Annette Vecchitto; and two grandchildren Paige E. (Shaun M.) Roberts and Christopher Vecchitto. She was predeceased by her son Joseph Vecchitto.

Evelyn’s family received relatives and friends in the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Monday, January 8, 2024. A funeral service celebrating her life was held at 11 a.m. Rev. Dean Warburton officiated. Interment followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.
