MERIDEN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): It is with immense sorrow to announce the death of Carol A. Styra on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 and Frank A. Styra who then passed on December 20, 2020- devoted loving husband and wife of over 54 years.

Frank was born in New Haven, August 19, 1945, the son of the late Frank A. Styra Sr. and the late Lenora (Mazieka) Styra Somma and Frank’s loving stepfather of over 63 years, the late Joseph Somma.

Frank worked at Marlin Firearm Co. for most of his life; a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Through the years, Frank cultivated a passion for golf. He so looked forward to his weekly tee offs with great friends. In Frank’s younger years, he had a love of sports cars; in particular – his Corvette. For many years, Frank coached little league baseball at Habershon Field Park in South Meriden and served as a mentor in boy scouts. Frank also had a great love of fishing, ice cream and maintaining his yard; no dandelions grew there and always leaf free.

Carol was born in Stratford, November 2, 1945, the daughter of the late Joseph and Olga (Nestrick) Matakevich. Carol had a gift of making people beautiful by serving as a beautician for over 55 years. Many of those years working at the salon at the bottom of Diamond Hill, South Meriden. One of her favorite sayings “I am a beautician, not a magician.” Carol also served as a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Angels Church for several years, a calling by the Lord, she answered.

Together, Frank and Carol shared so, so many great times and created so many wonderful memories at “the cottage.” Boating, swimming, waterskiing, tubing, fishing, grilling, and just spending time with family and friends.
