MERIDEN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Frederick “Chip” Somerset Jr. passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the age of 71 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Chip was born in Meriden on January 2, 1952, son of the late Frederick and Lois (Birdsey) Somerset. As a child he worked at the family business, Meriden Landscaping where he was taught to drive at an early age. He met his wife of 50 years, Marsha (Clark) Somerset in school, married in 1972, and raised three children, Jason, Jeremy and Kristy.
Chip graduated from H.C. Wilcox Tech in 1970 with a certificate in Carpentry. He worked as a project manager at Central Connecticut Acoustics in Wallingford for 38 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races, mowing the lawn on his John Deere, planning cruises for him and his wife, and most of all, spending time with his granddaughters who meant the world to him. “Papa” was extremely proud of Alex, Gabby, Katie and Sophia and would light up when they visited him.
