Obituary: Gary J. Staszewski, 61, Of Meriden
He was the founder and operator of Excelsior Engineering enjoying many years servicing his customers.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Gary J. Staszewski, 61, of Meriden, died on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born on January 20, 1961, in Meriden. He was the son of the late William Staszewski and Lorraine (Pepin) D’Amico. Gary was a life-long resident of Meriden and a graduate of H.C. Wilcox Technical High School.
He was the founder and operator of Excelsior Engineering enjoying many years servicing his customers. He later took a position as a Process Engineer for 12 years with Silgan Containers Co. of Torrington.
Gary had many seasonal hobbies revolving around his love for the outdoors, Winter was skiing and snowmobiling. Summertime, he enjoyed boating and spending time with friends on the beach or relaxing reading a good book.

He got his hands dirty tending to his flowers and lawn and then would sit back and enjoy the view. He was especially fond of classic cars and motorcycles which led to a collection of many of his favorites over the years. He had a special passion for cooking. His clam chowder and crazy crackers were always a hit at parties.
Gary is survived by a sister, Pamela LaForge and her partner Kurt Puleo, of Meriden, and a brother, Bruce Staszewski of Danbury; two nieces Kimberly Wong and her partner Casey Boespflug of Fairbanks, Alaska and Ava Staszewski of Danbury; Two nephews Douglas LaForge and his partner Julia Savio of Meriden, and Blake Staszewski of Danbury; a great nephew Joshua LaForge of Meriden; A Special Aunt, Dorothy Fornal, of Meriden and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

The Staszewski family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. inside the funeral home.
The family asks those attending to please wear bright, fun, colorful shirts. Let’s celebrate his life the way he would want.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to American Cancer society or the AT Children’s project 6810 N State Road Suite 125 Coconut Creek, Florida 33073.
