Obituary: Helena Rina Pelletier, 80, Of Meriden

Along with her sons, Helena co-owned Val's Auto Service for 38 years. She enjoyed spending time with her sons and visiting with customers.

MERIDEN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Helena Rina Pelletier, 80, of Meriden, wife of the late Valmont Pelletier, passed away peacefully January 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Helena was born in Madawaska, Maine on August 15, 1942, a daughter of the late Donat and Josephine (Michaud) Cyr.

Helena co-owned along with her sons, Val’s Auto Service for 38 years. She enjoyed spending time with her sons, visiting with customers, friends and family that came by to say hello. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church. She faithfully served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist for eight years at St. Laurent Church.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary – Franco American Club. Helena was married to Valmont for 33 years before his passing in 1995. Her family brought her love and joy. Her grandchildren knew her as their beloved Memere.

She cherished her dearest lifelong friendships. Helena’s kindness and loving spirit was loved by all.

Helena is survived by her daughter, Karen Kowalski and her husband, Robert, of Meriden; her sons, Daniel Pelletier and his wife, Mary, of Middletown and Richard Pelletier and his wife, Corrinne, of Cheshire; her sister, Angela Albert of Florida; her brother, Robert Cyr of Maine; her grandchildren, Allison McGuire, Matthew Kowalski, Nathan Pelletier, Michelle Pelletier and Connor Pelletier; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Joan Geraghty, Lorraine Barfield, Jackie Ferral, and her brothers, Roland and Lionel Cyr.

Helena’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. when her funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Angels, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Campus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Laurent Cemetery in Meriden.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Laurence Nair for his many years of caring for Helena and AccentCare Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
