Obituary: Henry J. Savino, 95, formerly of Meriden

Henry served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for Pratt and Whitney. He cherished traveling with family and playing golf.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Henry J. Savino, 95, of Wallingford, formerly of Meriden, husband of the late Irene (Schumann) Savino, passed away peacefully January 27, 2021 at Connecticut Hospice

He was born in Meriden on September 29, 1925, a son of the late Rocco and Antoinette (Caivano) Savino.

He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II from 1944-1945 with the 23rd Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Henry worked for Pratt and Whitney, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed many years of travel with his wife and family and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Bauchman and her husband, Roy, of Wallingford; his son, Daniel Savino and his wife, Lynn, of The Villages, FL; his grandchildren, Greg, Donna, Debbie, Krista and Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Savino and three siblings.

A graveside service with military honors will be held directly at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11 am. There are no calling hours.

You can view the graveside service via livestream by going to his webpage at http://www.wallingfordfh.com on Thursday at 11 am. (COVID-19 precautions and face coverings are required at the cemetery).

Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (tunnel2towers.org).
