Obituary: James C. Gagnon, 78, Of Meriden

He worked for the Automatic Milk and Vending Co. until his retirement. He loved dancing, country music and walking the Meriden Linear Trail.

MERIDEN, CT — (From Meriden Funeral Home): James C. Gagnon, 78, of South Meriden, loving husband of Brenda (Burtt) Gagnon, peacefully entered into eternal rest, Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Hartford Hospital.

James was born in Winterville, Maine, August 15, 1943, a son of the late Leonard Gagnon and Irene (Thibodeau) Gagnon and had been a South Meriden resident for many years. He was employed by the Automatic Milk and Vending Co. until his retirement and was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church in South Meriden.

In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by his daughter Wendy Keene; and his son James Gagnon; his three grandchildren Brendan Keene, Bryan Keene and Tyler Gagnon. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers Dorothy (Thomas) Bethart, Dolores (Wayne) Brown, Carl (Denise) Gagnon, Robert (Penny) Gagnon; several nieces; and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Darrell Gagnon.

Jim and Brenda enjoyed going on weekend trips with Kit, Judy, Leo and Linda. He, and the family, also went on many vacations with Nancy and the Nedinsky family. He loved dancing and country music. Walking the Meriden Linear Trail; in which he made many friends. Going for coffee with the guys weekly. Sitting around a campfire & watching the birds at the feeder. He was quite the joker as his dad was. He loved the Red Sox and the UCONN women’s basketball team.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial (Smith-Ruzzo) Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, Monday, July 25, 2022, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish (Holy Angels Church), 585 Main St., South Meriden. (Everyone is asked to gather directly at church). Interment will be private in Fairmont Cemetery, Presque Isle, Maine in the month of September.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request monetary donations to be sent to Hartford Hospital Cardiac ICU Department.
