Obituary: Maria E. Velez, 68, of Meriden

Maria worked for Silver Springs for over 30 years. She was a member of Christian Pentecostal Church where she served on the Women's Board.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Maria E. Velez, 68, of Meriden, went on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at MidState Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was the loving wife of the late Monserate Velez.

She was born in Manhattan, NY, a daughter of the late Filomena and Benigno Miranda and had been employed by Silver Springs in Meriden for over 30 years.

She was a member of Christian Pentecostal Church in Meriden for over 30 years and served on the Women’s Board and was a Deaconess.

She is survived by her children, Rachel V. Cosme, Josue J. Velez, Deborah Velez and Isaac Velez; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Elijah, Nathaniel, Noah, Ethan, Bella; her great granddaughter, Penelope; her siblings, Luisa Olivera, Juana Olivera, Heriberto Perez Jr., Benigno Miranda Jr., Marta Mendez and Miguel A. Miranda; and many loving nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Her children will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Sunday, November 22, 2020. (COVID precautions will be followed and masks required.) Due to COVID capacity regulations her funeral service will be private.

Friends may watch the service via livestream available on her online obituary page located at www.wallingfordfh.com on Sunday at 3pm.

Interment will be private in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.
