Obituary: Matthew Joseph Pettola, 46, Of Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Matthew Joseph Pettola, 46, of Meriden, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Betsy Pettola.

Matthew was born in New Haven on March 16, 1977, and was the son of Joseph and Lorraine Perro Pettola. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and New York Yankees.

Matthew will be remembered for being a caring, gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew him.

The loving father of Michael Pettola. Beloved brother of Chris (Athena) Pettola. Stepfather of Jayline Johnson and Bryanna Scionti. Grandfather of Ariella Martinez. Also survived by his godmother Kathy Collier, godfather Peter Pettola, nieces Emily and Kaitlyn Pettola, many aunts and uncles and his loving little girl dogs Greta and Sophie Pettola.

The visiting hours will be on Saturday, Sept. 30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A service and military honors will be conducted in the funeral home at 5:00 pm. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
