Obituary: Maureen L. Gesner, 72, Of Meriden
Maureen, an animal lover, was known for her sense of humor and contagious laughter.

MERIDEN, CT — (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home): Maureen L. Gesner, “Grandma Moe,” 72, of Meriden, passed away peacefully at her home on January 20, 2023. She was born on February 25, 1950, a daughter of the late Henry and Dolores (Kipphut) Loniewski.
Maureen resided in Meriden for most of her life, where she lived, worked, and raised her 2 children, Courtney and Jay. She was known for her sense of humor and contagious laughter.
Following retirement, Maureen spent her days in her garden, where she tended to her plants and flowers. She also enjoyed watching endless Hallmark movies, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, whom she adored and brought her so much joy.

Maureen was an animal lover. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard, and her home became a haven for local cats that proved to be loving companions and friends.
Maureen is survived by her daughter; Courtney Schatzman and her husband Matthew of Middletown, two grandchildren; Logan Lee and Frederick Henry, and many loving family members and dear friends. Awaiting Maureen in heaven are her parents, brother Henry, partner Thom, beloved son Jay, and countless pets who will all greet her with open arms. We love you always and will miss you forever Grandma Moe.

A service celebrating Maureen’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 11 a.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Friends may visit with her family from 9-11 a.m. before the service. Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Please feel free to send flowers or donate to a local animal shelter, as Maureen loved both plants and animals.
