Obituary: Michael J. Mancano, 83, Of Meriden

A U.S. Army veteran, he worked for many years as a school psychologist in the West Haven School District & had a private practice in Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Michael J. Mancano died on July 4, 2022 at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven.

Michael was born in Meriden on May 25, 1939 to Michael Mancano and Anna (Skeba) Mancano. He is survived by his children Michael, Lori Soltesz and Mark, six grandchildren Shannon and Shelby Soltesz, Nicole Mancano, and Emily, Jordan, and Olivia Mancano, six great grandchildren, his sister Kathryn Wodatch and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John Mancano and wife Pat, brother-in-law Robert Wodatch and nephew Peter Wodatch.

Michael joined the Army and served his country proudly as a staff sergeant. He received his undergraduate and Master degrees from Southern Connecticut State University. He worked for many years as a school psychologist in the West Haven School District and as an adjunct faculty member at Southern. Michael succeeded in his private practice in Meriden.

Michael was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his buddies. He was an enthusiastic fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team and enjoyed his many trips to Saratoga Race Track. He looked forward to family picnics and reunions at Hubbard Park. He will be deeply missed by his many life-long friends, family and all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association or a Veterans facility of your choice.
