Obituary: Taryn Ann Rogalski-Salter, 66; Formerly Of Meriden

Her position at Bill and Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute was the culmination of her many years that she devoted to the sciences.

MERIDEN, CT — (From Meriden Memorial Funeral Home): Taryn Ann Rogalski-Salter, 66, formerly of Meriden, loving wife of Carl W. Salter, peacefully entered eternal life in the comfort of her home, Sunday, June 25, 2023, with her devoted husband by her side.

Taryn was born in Meriden, Connecticut July 13, 1956, daughter to the late Alexander Rogalski and Frances (Kotrys) Rogalski. Taryn grew up in Meriden and enjoyed her early years summering in Hampton Beach, NH and visiting relatives in Garden Grove , CA .

After high school, Taryn graduated from Wagner College at Staten Island, New York finishing with high honors in the biological sciences. Following a brief period employed as a lab manager for an analytical firm, she enrolled in Graduate studies at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. In doing so she became one of the first women to graduate with a Doctorate Degree for Bioengineering in a program run by the Thayer School of Engineering titled “Women in Science.”

After presenting her thesis work at a symposium, she was approached by a representative of Merck Pharmaceuticals and was offered a position at their West Point, PA facility. This started a career that led Taryn’s talents, over the years and with leadership roles in other major Pharma Groups, to become a widely respected and a known leader in Global Regularity Affairs. Her position at Bill and Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute was the culmination of her many years that she devoted to the sciences. Taryn has held elected and volunteer positions in pharmaceutical trade organizations including PhRMA, BIO, and IFPMA.

Her many interests included gardening, collecting objects de art, searching out the unusual at various auctions and attending major league football and basketball games. Go Eagles!! One of her more interesting secrets was her love of going to boxing matches.

A graveside service was held Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery Chapel, Ann St. Ext., Meriden. As for her wish, there were no public calling hours.
