Obituary: Yamayra 'Yami' Torres, 42, Of Meriden
Yamayra had a larger than life personality and she loved participating in different programs at The Arc of Meriden and Wallingford.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Yamayra Torres, 42, of Meriden, passed away unexpectedly, January 15, 2021 at Torrington Hospital.
She was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on April 7, 1978, a daughter of Victor and Maria (Aviles) Torres of Meriden.
She participated in different programs at The Arc of Meriden and Wallingford and loved being around her friends and staff.

Yamayra was known as “Yami” by close friends and family. She enjoyed doing crosswords, puzzles, and watching the sci-fi channel.
Even though she was only 4’8”, Yamayra was larger than life and the sweetest person to everyone she saw.

In addition to her parents, Victor and Maria, she is survived by her brother, Ernesto Torres and his wife, Naila, of Mobile, Alabama; her sister, Madeline Diaz and her husband, Luis, of Mulvane, Kansas; and her nieces and nephews, Marrisa, Dakota, Viviana, Tatiana and Jiovani Torres.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Meriden.
There are no calling hours. You can view her Mass via livestream by going to the Church website or by visiting her webpage at www.wallingfordfh.com on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers gifts in Yami's memory can be made in honor of Yamayra Torres by mailing a check to Midstate ARC, 200 Research Parkway, Meriden CT 06450 or to St Rose Church.
Interment will be in her hometown in Puerto Rico. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
