The new proposal would provide tax incentives for businesses that grow business in this part of the city.

Meriden’s economic development staff is planning to unveil a proposal as early as Dec. 15 that would draw businesses to the east side of the city, WFSB reports.
The new proposal would provide incentives for businesses, the news channel reports. The incentives, which would last for five years would not increase the property taxes for a company that chooses to improve a facility, expand or grow jobs in the east side of Meriden.
Officials told WFSB they are trying to work out how to make sure companies keep their promises of expansion.
