The dog was found near the property of the Meriden Humane Society, according to a post on Facebook.
“We are deeply saddened to report that a deceased dog was found on the property adjacent to ours this morning,” the Meriden Humane Society wrote in a post on Facebook. “When our staff was arriving to work, one noticed a discarded box and investigated, to discover a dog who had already passed. Animal control was notified and we have no further information on the dog or the circumstances surrounding its death. While the dog had not been a member of our MHS family, our hearts break for any life lost.
“We remind everyone who may find themselves no longer able to care for an animal that there are safe options for surrendering a pet. Hug your furs a little tighter today.”
