Police: Meriden 10-year-old Girl Sexually Assaulted By Home Invader

A 10-year-old girl in Meriden was sexually assaulted early Wednesday morning by a man who entered the home through a window, according to police.

The girl was assaulted as she was sleeping in bed around 3:30 a.m., said Lt. Salvatore Nesci, police spokesman. She alerted family members to the assault and her mother saw a male suspect flee the house. He was described as a black male in his mid-40’s with a scratch on his cheek.

No weapon was used, Nesci said. Detectives are following all possible leads and analyzing the scene for evidence.
