Police: GPS Stolen out of Cheshire Found in Meriden, Man Charged
A GPS unit that was taken from a Cheshire resident was found in Meriden after a suspicious vehicle check.

A check of suspicious vehicle in Meriden netted an allegedly stolen GPS device out of Cheshire.
A Meriden officer was doing a routine patrol in South Meriden on Jan. 5 around 3:30 a.m., said Sgt. Darrin Mckay, police spokesman. The officer came upon a car with its lights off with an occupant inside.
The occupant, later identified as Nicholas Sabo, 22, was questioned by an officer and gave elusive answers, Mckay said. A K-9 unit responded as back-up to the scene and the dog detected the presence of drugs.

Officers found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a GPS unit, Mckay said. The GPS couldn’t be accounted for, he said.
The GPS was turned on and displayed a home address in Cheshire. Cheshire Police were contacted and upon further investigation found that a vehicle had been broken into and the GPS taken from it.

Sabo was charged with infractions related to the drugs and turned over to Cheshire Police.
Cheshire Police charged him with sixth-degree larceny, according to court records.
